ONE WAY TICKET

End of one week. End of one month. End of one era. Beginning of another. ONE WAY TICKET.

It all happened so quickly. There were no second thoughts. Just it was time. The movers came and went. The door closed behind me to an empty place that used to be home and I boarded a one-way flight. By the time I left, there was not much left.

10 years. A decade. An era. A chapter. Done.

It is a very strange feeling to leave a place you love.

New York City is not just a city, it’s a relationship. The city becomes a part of you. You learn to tango with this city from the day you arrive. Lots of missteps in the beginning, but over time you are being spun across the city under the starry skies and in the streets made for lovers. You learn the intricate details of how to live in NYC and you learn that time goes by fast and barely exists at the same time . . . and if you are lucky, you have a handful of moments where life feels like a dream, because you made your dreams happen in one of the greatest cities in the world.

Returning to this city was hard and leaving was even harder. However, the music had stopped for me, the dance was finished, and it was my time to sit this one out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When a chapter closes, it always has its joys and sorrows. The sadness of leaving the adored people and places, yet the joy of new beginnings & transformation, chrysalis.

With this move, many of the old structures of my life have been removed. There are no four permanent walls anywhere to be seen, there are no addresses to return to, all of my stuff sitting in boxes somewhere as I only took what I needed, and only memories that I wake up to.

Home right now and for the foreseeable future is my spirit, soul, mind, and heart. Home is where I am, where my presence is, and as long as there are the essentials along with my computer, a yoga mat, a big heap of creativity and leveling up, home, just like hope is right here in my hand.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To NYC – Thank you for being my home for 10 years. Thank you for the magic, the realness, the opportunities, most importantly thank you for the light.

To all of you that I could not say good-bye to – know my gratitude for you and that you are in my heart.

Until next time!

With that the quote of the week:

“You cannot keep something down that is bound to rise.” – Juliet C. Obodo (written in a NYC café)
