THE PLEDGE

End of one week. Beginning of another. End of one month. Beginning of another. THE PLEDGE.

Here we are in in a month that seemed so far off when this all began and in a year that we never thought we would face in our lifetime. Here we are with ourselves rooted in the unknown and celebrating the littlest things we have so often not prioritized, life, family, health, joy, calm, and peace. Here we are in a year that has had its sorrow, but instead of dwelling in it, we are embracing it with our own fortitude, FLOWING WITH instead of PUSHING AGAINST change. Hoping for change to come and yet resolute with changes that have commenced.

In the last 11 months, I have spent more time on the mat, more time sitting in front of a candle, in meditation, in breath, in understanding the power of letting go what does not serve me and more time embracing newness. I have spent more time understanding reclamation and less time concerned about control. This significant, ever-so induced year of self has changed me more than I can be grateful for, it has given me my power, truth, beauty, purity, creativity, knowing.

As we approach this last month of year, with life in a constant swirl and no clear idea of what 2021 will look like, I am making an early new year’s resolution, a pledge. I am promising myself to lean into authentic joy, the joy that is only discovered when you slow down enough to not need, to not want, but to embrace the beauty that we hold within.
